The black peony is the ultimate in peonies. It first appeared at the turn of the century and has been very popular ever since. The flowers of the peony are strongly scented and are black in color, turning to light black with a touch of gray. Taller than most peonies - 100-120 cm, it is also very wide, about 130-150 cm, which means that it will become a very spectacular plant in the garden. Incidentally, its flowers are also perfect for cut flowers and indoor decoration, as it has a longer vase life than most peonies!

Black peonies are very unique, rare and highly collectible. It is the result of hybridization between two major peony species: the herbaceous peony (which dies to the ground every year) and the tree or woody peony (which maintains a woody branching system year round).
